MDEC - West is an all-volunteer board whose members represent a broad range of business capabilities, including sales and marketing, distribution, legal, financial, risk mitigation, logistics and related areas. The Council consists of nearly two-dozen seasoned business leaders with extensive international expertise and have been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on MDEC - West.
MDEC - West complements the services provided by the U.S. Commercial Service by sharing their experience with businesses trying to enter or to expand in new international markets. MDEC – West Members are available to individually counsel business leaders interested in improving their global competitiveness.
These one-time appointments may be arranged by contacting the U.S. Commercial Service Grand Rapids office at 616-458-3564 or Kendra.kuo@trade.gov. If you need further export assistance following the initial appointment, DEC members can refer you to additional resources. (These resources may charge fees.)
Established in 2006, after spinning off from the East Michigan District Export Council, MDEC - West has a successful track record of working with businesses in a wide array of industries, including advanced technical equipment, capital equipment, medical devices, machine tools, food processing, lumber, plastics and related areas.
